Environmental Design
Environmental Graphic Design and Signage Systems are a means to orient people to a site and aids one’s navigation to a desired destination. These information rich systems are a part of our built environment and may be applied at a single site, a complex of buildings, or an entire city.
Signage Systems in our built environment offer a unique set of challenges to the designer. They must be designed in a way in which they are accurately interpreted by an audience. They must be located in a way that provides orientation while maximizing readability and reassurance, whether in a pedestrian or vehicular context. This course investigates design opportunities for public signage in a vibrant urban context.
