citizen of the world, works in the area of motion design, interaction design, information visualization, and user experience, and is an Associate Professor of Design at The Ohio State University. His work has garnered numerous awards for design excellence and he's the author of several articles on the subjects of interactive experiences, usability, information design, and kinetic messages.
He is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities and has held visiting appointments at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial (ESDI) in Brasil, and Universidad Americana Managua, Nicaragua (UAM). He is the author of several articles on the subjects of UX/UI and Motion Design. His essay, Type in Motion is included in the book Teaching Motion Design: Course Offerings and Class Projects from the Leading Undergraduate and Graduate Programs edited by Steven Heller and Michael Dooley. Recently, Professor Stone delivered the keynote address at the XXXII commencement of the Universidad Americana (UAM), Managua, Nicaragua. He served as Master of Ceremonies at the AIGA Educators Conference in Cincinnati and presented on the topic of Interactive Television at UX Week in San Francisco.
Apple Computer recognized Professor Stone’s teaching with the Apple Distinguished Educator award. He is also a recipient of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching from The Ohio State University and the Order of Omega Faculty Recognition Award.
His most recent collaborations include organizing the 2nd Annual MoDe Summit, an international conference bringing together motion design educators from different areas of expertise to present work and discuss motion and how it enhances, effects, and impacts meaning and communication. He has also been involved in the development of educational strategies and instruction for Cooper a San Francisco based user experience design firm and SalesGlobe an Atlanta based sales effectiveness team focused on business innovation.
